School
Board
|
The School Board is
made up of seven residents of Independent School District 152
elected to four-year terms. Board members are elected at large.
They receive $550 per month compensation.
|
| The
School Board sets the policies for the management of the district.
The School Board approves the budget, employs all personnel, acquires
and disposes of property, serves as a link between the school system
and the public, establishes short- and long-term goals, and assesses
and interprets educational needs of the community. Board members
also serve as liaisons to various district and non-district committees. |

Board Meetings
Board meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each
month in the Townsite Centre Board Room.
All meetings are
open to the public. The only exception would be a meeting to discuss labor
negotiations strategy, and the Board must act to close such a meeting
by a majority vote at a public meeting.
Agendas
Copies of the agenda are available at each meeting. Agendas may be picked
up in the Office of the Superintendent at Townsite Centre the day of the
meeting.
Board members receive
agendas and supporting documents in advance of each meeting so they can
study the material and be prepared to make decisions.
Because the board
needs complete information prior to making decisions, board members usually
will not act on items that are not on the agenda.
The agenda normally
follows this order:
